Lost Contacts : Blank iClouds Contacts

And so last night I was tinkering my iPhone and was just playing around with. I came across iClouds in the settings menu and decided to turn on most of the items there, including contacts. A window popped out and unknowingly, i ticked on something without really understanding what i just chosed. Did not really bother much to check what it was.

And then today at work, away from my wifi, my phone rang. Seeing only a number in the caller id, i answered thinking it might be important. To my surprise it was my dad calling. And so i asked if he got himself a new number. He told me he didn't. So right after we talked, i checked my contacts, and viola! All my contacts are gone.

Apparently, what i did was, sync my contacts from my iClouds contacts, which as of the moment doesn't contain anything. What i should have done was, merge it. Being worried a little bit that my contacts are gone, i searched the net for resolutions to get my contacts up.

The only solution i could find was to restore my iDevice from my backup which unfortunately was one month old. But what the heck, better than nothing.

Lesson learned. Read before you click on anything.

First Book I Purchased

And so I finally had my book replaced. Thanks to National Bookstore! 

I bought Dan Brown book, the latest sequel the famous Robert Langdon character, The Lost Symbol. I am not really a big fan of reading a book. I actually started reading the novel in my phone. That’s when I realized, that reading a novel through iBooks, is not as satisfying as reading the book itself. Feeling the pages, the smell of the paper, it’s a whole different experience. Maybe if I get a larger screen, say, an iPad, the experience might come close. Well, just maybe. 

If you are wondering why I needed to have my book replaced, well, the book was missing pages. Or should I say, it has repeating pages. It was the first book that I actually bought straight from a bookstore, fresh from the stand and not some worn out used book from a second hand store. And to add up to the trouble, I already threw away my receipt. What I have instead was the auto generated credit card receipt. Good thing the bookstore was good enough to have my book replaced. Although I didn’t have the actual receipt, I guess the mere fact that the book didn’t pass the quality check makes it a very good reason to have it replaced.

And so just when I am about to get the replacement, I found out that they ran out of stocks, and so the reason for waiting. I opted to continue reading the book electronically rather than wait for the actual stocks to arrive. Who knows when the stocks will come arrive?

So, after two months of waiting, I now have a fresh copy of the book. 

Flickr's window sized image called 'Liquid'

Images now expand on larger monitors. For the first time in several years, Flickr has revised its image viewing pages. ’Liquid Design’ which is Flickr is calling, uses the largest image it can to fit your browser window, without ever up scaling. This was the long awaited feature. This combines with the latest version of 'lightbox' which shows your images as large as it can on the whole screen. Further details on the liquid layout note that the biggest photo size will be based on your browser window, how the title and the sidebar will remain visible without having to scroll landscape and perhaps most important — there will not be any up scaling of images. Additionally, Flickr noted that they will try to avoid down sampling “as much as possible.”  Unfortunately, best results only come for images uploaded since March 1st 2012, for which 1600 and 2048 pixel versions will have been generated.
